The Riddle: Explained

Hello. It’s me again.

I regret to say, unfortunately, that no one managed to solve my riddle, as seen here. I must have made it too hard, so I’m going to show you all, step by step, how one would go about solving it. I’m also going to include some cool thinking music for you to listen to while you read.

Step 1: Locating the three pieces.

There were three strings of binary hidden throughout my blog. They were hidden here, here, and here. Here they are all together:

  1. 11001101101011001010010111101110101001101110101001001000110
  2. 10001011110010111101110110011010010110010000101
  3. 0110100001110100011101000111000001110011001110

Step 2: Arranging the strings together and decoding them.

This was the part that everyone got stuck at. I received quite a few emails from perplexed bloggers who thought that I had made a mistake. I thought I had too, until I actually tried it myself. My dignity was restored, thankfully. It’s possible, just harder than I thought it would be.

First, go to any Binary to Text Decoder website, and string the pieces together in this order using the number list shown above: 3, 2, 1. Once you do that, you’ll get this:

Place that string into the decoder, and you’ll get this link:

Step 3: Finding and decoding the hexadecimal.

The link will take you to a strange video about recovering from depression. Scroll down, and you’ll notice that there is a comment by someone named “op2b1s”.

Now here I tried to throw you off a bit.

The comment looks like a random combination of numbers and letters, but it’s actually another code called a hexadecimal. Keep in mind that this is not common knowledge, and I’m wondering now why I didn’t think this would be a problem. I’m kind of an idiot.

Once again, you would take that hexadecimal string and paste it into a Hexadecimal to Text Converter website. The decoded data would reveal another link:

But that isn’t even the tricky part. I feel ridiculous right now, because I can see that I got waaay too carried away. The Reddit link was a false trail. It would simply lead you to a reddit post that had been removed by the author.

The REAL trail lies in a user “270419”’s reply to the “op2b1s” comment, which is also in hexadecimal.

Once decoded, you’ll get a link to a Paste in Pastebin:

Step 4: Decoding the link.

You’ll know that you’re on the right trail, because the name of the Paste is “The Riddle”…Or is it another rabbit trail? Muahahahaha!

No, really though, you’re on the right trail. This is the last code in the Riddle! So, in the Paste, you’ll see this combination of letters and numbers:

It’s a Caesar Cipher, simple enough to decode. Just use a site like this one and let it do its work. When decoded, the result will be what I like to call…

The Victory Link!

So there you have it! My completely, ridiculously complex Riddle. Thank you for bearing with me xD.

Sunshine Blogger Award

It seems I’ve been given another award.

This particular one seems like it should be awarded to someone jumping up and down with glee, sun rays beaming out of his brilliant smile as the world becomes drenched in bright colors.
I’m doing all that on the inside, believe me.
Thank you so much, Allie. M, and you guys, if you aren’t a follower of her blog yet, you have seriously been missing out, and I am very disappointed in you. Stop reading this and go click on her name right now. Come back later.
Ok, on to the actual award itself. Here are the rules:
Answer the 11 questions from the nominator, nominate 11 blogs and ask them 11 questions.
Alright, seems decent.

The questions, and my answers, are below:

1. If you were a perfume, what scent would you be?
Black Cavendish tobacco. It’s a really adventury scent that somehow manages to be relaxing.
2. What is your favorite color-ah, but describe it with imagery! e.g. The color of the sky right before the sun rises.
Oddly enough, the exact name of my favorite color is Cloud Grey. Tis’ the color of the sky right before it rains.
3. Chili fries or pizza fries?
Chili fries.
4. Do you have a secret talent?
No. What a ridiculous idea.
5. Do you prefer the day, or night?
Night, because it’s a lot cooler out, you can look in every direction without a blazing light frying your eyes, and I honestly just feel more alive…I guess I’m a vampire. Oh yeah, during the day, these scary things called humans come out.
6. You have one day to prepare for the zombie apocalypse: what do you do?
I have been waiting for this my whole life. I quickly Facebook all the people who matter to me who are in my general area (50 miles or less) and tell them to bring their immediate families with them, and to bring clothing, food, weapons, and as much sentimental objects as they can carry in a single car. Then, once they are all gathered at my house, I would direct the carpool of people toward the freighter harbor, which is about 2 hours away, provided there’s no traffic. Once we get there, we commandeer a freighter/cargo ship, and force the crew to take us out to sea. We’d tell them why. Even if they didn’t believe us at the time, they would have to the next day. When the Apocalypse starts, we’d be safe at sea, hypothetically. Eventually, food would begin to run out, so we would have to organise ‘raids’ consisting of no more than 3 able-bodied men to go onshore and find food and supplies.
7. Describe one of your best moments!
When I first learned what a cherpumple was.
8. What book, quote, movie or event made you completely re-evaluate your life?
Fahrenheit 451, by far. It basically describes today’s society.
9. Your favorite poem?
The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
10. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Almost anything but my current one…I like the names Darrow, Frederick, David, Dalton, Eli.
11. Have you ever had anything supernatural/paranormal or something that couldn’t be explained, happen to you?
Yes. Both the best and worst times of my life. Atheists beware. I would tell them, but they are both waaay too long to post here.

Alright, there are my answers, hope you liked them.

Now onto the second part of this award xD (Sorry for the length). I nominate Vincendiary (He’s new to the blogosphere, give him a like or a follow!), The Punk ButterflySav The LionLunaSquidaprmclHannaAKA The AuthorVictoriaThe Intoxicacated Storyteller, and FarahEdz.

Now, nominees, my questions for you are:

  1. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?
  2. What’s the scariest experience you’ve ever had?
  3. If you ever had to kill someone, how would you do it? (Explain in horrible, beautiful  detail >:D)
  4. Would you mind posting the 11th picture you have?
  5. What’s the meaning of life?
  6. Would you rather have terrifying nightmares every night, or see creepy things during the day that aren’t there?
  7. If you had to live in a movie, which movie would it be?
  8. Would you be willing to go on a scary adventure with me?
  9. Can you describe in 3 words who you are?
  10. What’s the name of the last song you listened to?
  11. If you had to be killed by someone, how would you want them to go about doing it?

Have fun, and thanks again for the award.

The Riddle

Hey guys.

Out of the intense boredom I’ve been experiencing these past few weeks, I’ve decided to make something for you.

Ooohh, a gift? What could Edge possibly have for me today?

Well, it’s not really a gift, per say, but rather, a riddle.

A riddle?? Oh no…do I have to think for this?

Yes. I’m sorry. So so sorry. To make things even better, it’s no ordinary riddle either. This, while being short in length, while take you across the internet and back. When you get to the end, you’ll know, so don’t worry about not knowing when to stop. Think of it as an…online adventure. The key to beginning this adventure is in three pieces, hiding somewhere in my blog.

Good luck!
